Harvest Celebration 2015

Harvest Celebration for Helena Community Gardens

Everyone is invited to the 2015 Harvest Celebration on Saturday, November 14 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in Helena. Festivities include music, a dancing for all ages, a delicious potluck dinner, and a hootenanny. The silent auction and donations will benefit Helena Community Gardens, which builds gardens, provides the tools and knowledge to grow food, and increases access to healthy and affordable food.

From 3 to 3:45 pm, Judy Fjell teaches Good Dog Ukulele School, open to all skill levels. Participants are encouraged to bring their own ukuleles, and instruments will also be available to borrow.

4:15 to 5:15 pm, the folk dance for all ages features a live caller with music by WMD. No experience necessary!

At 5:30 pm there is a potluck dinner with delicious creations by local gardeners and cooks.

A silent auction throughout the event raises funds for ongoing community garden projects. To donate to the auction, please contact Katie Knight at 406-465-5261, or [email protected]

At 6:45 pm, musicians Judy Fjell and Jim Schulz kick off the hootenanny. A hootenanny is a traditional sing-along gathering that began in the late fifties and early sixties based on folk music, spirituals, and messages of the times. All are welcome. No prior singing experience is necessary to join in the spirit of these truly American songs. Parents are encouraged to bring cushions and blankets for children to sit on the floor.
